CeeDee Lamb a no-show for Dallas Cowboys OTAs as he awaits contract extension

An extension could make Lamb one of the NFL’s highest-paid wide receivers.

The final phase of organized team activities got underway Tuesday at The Star.

CeeDee Lamb wasn’t there.

A person with knowledge of the players who took part in the drills said the Pro Bowl receiver wasn’t in attendance. This comes as no surprise. Lamb has been working on his own away from the club’s offseason facility to stress his desire to reach an extension that would make him one of the NFL’s highest paid players at the position.

Lamb became the first player in franchise history to lead the league in receptions this past season with 135. He finished with 1,749 yards receiving, second only to Miami’s Tyreek Hill. Both players had 29 receptions of 20 or more yards to lead the league in that category.

The latest receiver to wear the No. 88 jersey for the Cowboys had seven games with at least 11 receptions to set an NFL single-season record. He finished the season with 13 receptions in back-to-back games, something that has been done only one other time since the merger.

This stage of the off-season program — the Cowboys advanced to 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills for the first time Tuesday — is voluntary. Lamb isn’t required to attend. But he’s been in contract with quarterback Dak Prescott and others.

“No worries in that guy,” Prescott said recently. “I know what he’s doing. I know how he’s preparing. I know where he is. I know how he was here before and how he came back.

“So all confidence in the way that he’s preparing, what he’s doing and how he’s going to (show up)."
