Stars forward Radek Faksa, an option for Game 6 vs. Vegas, ultimately scratched

Faksa hasn’t seen the ice since Game 2 when he went down with an injury in the third period.

LAS VEGAS — Stars coach Pete DeBoer announced Friday morning that forward Radek Faksa would be an option to play after getting injured in Game 2 and missing the last three games. But when the Stars took the ice for pre-game warmups, Faksa did not take line rushes, indicating he is the healthy scratch and that the Stars would keep the same lineup that won the last three games.

Mason Marchment, who was hurt in the same game as Faksa, was ruled out Friday morning. Both Marchment and Faksa skated with the team at Friday’s mandatory morning skate, but Marchment did not take the ice for warmups.

Faksa left Game 2 with an undisclosed injury with 13:42 left in what was the most physical game of the series. He skated in 74 regular season games and recorded 19 points (seven goals and 12 assists).

DeBoer did not want to mess with Dallas’ fourth line by inserting Faksa back into the lineup, as that line has been one of the Stars’ best in the last few games. Ty Dellandrea and Craig Smith drew into the lineup to replace Faksa and Marchment, and the two connected for the game-winning goal in Game 4 on Monday.
