About: This self-guided tour is curated by local architects who have cherry-picked six of the city’s most architecturally significant and innovative homes. This year’s two-day lineup sponsored by the Dallas chapter of the American Institute of Architects includes a Midway Hollow home with a monolithic stucco facade — modeled after architecture in a luxury Florida beach community — and a natural, loft-like home, located in North Lake Highlands’ new Urban Commons neighborhood, that leaves standard lumber and construction materials bare throughout its interior.
Heritage Oak Cliff Fall Home Tour

About: This home tour showcases 10 residences across seven neighborhoods in Oak Cliff, one of Dallas’ oldest and most diverse communities. Homes on this year’s tour were built between 1927 to 1969 and highlight distinctive architecture (from Craftsman to midcentury modern) as well as careful preservation, unique artistry, intricate workmanship and thoughtful landscapes. This year, you can also browse two businesses renovated by Proxy Properties. The Oak Cliff Assembly, a historical landmark previously home to numerous churches, is now a performing arts venue with a café and more; the 1926-built Wesley Inn is beautifully reimagined as the Madison Hotel. Funds raised will support community events, improvements and beautification.

About: Now in its 48th year, this wildly popular community event is hosted by the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA to raise funds for the neighborhood’s three Dallas ISD feeder schools. The six homes on this year’s tour feature architectural styles from storybook Tudor to pristine traditional to midcentury modern, all tucked along the neighborhood’s leafy, tree-lined streets. The immaculately landscaped and preserved Lakeshore Drive Tudor is reserved for those who snagged the coveted candlelight tour tickets.
