‘Dancing With the Stars’ Chmerkovskiy brothers offer dance class to lift Medical City workers’ spirits

The TV show regulars Maks and Val will take heathcare providers through steps and moves tonight in an exclusive Zoom call.

Doctors and nurses from Medical City hospitals will get a little extra help unwinding Tuesday night, with Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy conducting a virtual dance lesson.

The brothers, dance instructors of Dancing With the Stars fame, say they want to lift the spirits of frontline workers as the coronavirus pandemic continues to demand intense shifts from health care providers. They will be condu‘cting an exclusive Zoom call to share some moves and give back.‘

“We enjoy bringing a smile to people,” Val Chmerkovskiy said in a news release. “This is our way to pay it forward. We hope lessons like these help make people happier, improve lives and get people moving.”

Val has a personal connection to Medical City McKinney. Jenna Johnson, Val’s wife, is Medical City McKinney Chief Operating Officer Andrew Zenger’s sister-in-law.

“Maks and Val know how hard our healthcare colleagues are working during this time and wanted to give back by providing this joyful, healthy and special diversion from the stress and pressure our caregivers are experiencing,” Zenger said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to a fun night dancing with these stars.”

In addition to 30 combined seasons of Dancing With the Stars experience, Maks and Val also run the Dance With Me studio chain, a nationwide group with two Metroplex locations.

The class, which is available only to Medical City Healthcare employees, will take place at 8 p.m. tonight.
