Entries are now being accepted for Richardson’s annual photo contest.
Both residents and non-residents are eligible to enter.
The competition features three categories: Students (high school age and younger), amateur adult (college age and beyond), and proficient adult (proficient in the art of photography).
Categories for the photo contest are architecture or cityscapes, landscapes, sports and action, animals and pets, macro still life, experimental/digital art, waterscapes, flora, and people. Photos may also be submitted under the “other or anything goes” category.
Photos must be at least 48 square inches and a maximum of 16 inches x 20 inches. Photos must also be mounted on 16- by-20-inch foam core.
Two color photos and two black-and-white photos are allowed per entrant, per category.
Entry fees are $5 per entry for students and $10 per entry for all other entrants. Entry forms are available at the Huffhines Recreation Center, 200 North Plano Road, or online.
Results of the contest will be posted online on Jan. 28 and winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony on Feb. 17.
First, second and third place winners in each category, along with honorable mention winners, will receive ribbons.
First place winners will compete for the best of division, with these winners will receive a $75 gift card, a plaque, and a place in the following year’s best of divisions exhibition.
Among the three best of division winners, contest judges will select the the best of show winner, who will receive an additional $50 gift card. Additionally, the best of show winner will have his or her photograph framed and displayed at the Richardson Public Library.
