Disney is premiering “Disney Animation: Immersive Experience” at Lighthouse ArtSpace Dallas on April 20.
Canadian company Lighthouse Immersive is producing the show, which presents the music and artistry of Disney films such as Encanto, Zootopia and Frozen in addition to classics The Lion King, Peter Pan and Pinocchio.
The show will take place at Lighthouse ArtSpace Dallas, 507 S. Harwood St., in a 1941 building that sits between the Cedars and Deep Ellum, not far from the Dallas Farmers Market.
The presentation is similar to “Immersive Van Gogh,” which opened in 2021.
“We’d like to thank Dallas audiences for their incredible enthusiasm towards our previous immersive offerings, including Immersive Van Gogh,” Corey Ross, Lighthouse Immersive Studios founder, said in a statement.
Ross said similar exhibits have opened in seven cities so far with positive receptions.
“It’s very gratifying, and as we thought about adding additional cities, Dallas was at the top of the list,” he said. “We can’t wait to share this very special presentation with the residents of North Texas.”
Mexico City-based Cocolab worked with Oscar-winning producer J. Miles Dale and the Walt Disney Animation Studios Creative Legacy team to develop the immersive program.
The projection show includes interactive elements like responsive floor designs that move with the audience and custom bracelets that light up in sync with the presentation and are based on the audience’s movements.
In another feature, the Gazillion Bubbles special effects team will fill the 500,000 cubic feet of galleries with bubbles.
“Like so many of us, I have a life-long love of Disney films,” Ross said. “And it has been quite a nostalgic rush seeing those films come to life at Lighthouse ArtSpace venues across North America.”
The exhibit also is scheduled at Lighthouse ArtSpace venues in Toronto, Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Denver, Boston, San Antonio, Minneapolis, Las Vegas and Columbus, Ohio.
Tickets start at $29.99 and available for the Dallas presentation at lighthouseimmersive.com/disney. Times for daily shows vary, so check the website.
