Irving-born author Gordy Sauer to discuss his debut novel in 3 upcoming events

Sauer’s first novel, ‘Child in the Valley,’ was published earlier this year.

Irving-born author Gordy Sauer will soon be featured in a trifecta of literary events.

Published earlier this year, Sauer’s debut novel, Child in the Valley, is a gripping Western that vividly explores the emotional and psychological state of the main character, Joshua Gaines, a teenage orphan.

Sauer, who lives in Missouri, will read from his novel and answer questions from audience members at the Allen Public Library on Nov. 2 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Interabang Books on Nov. 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. The Allen event will also be held virtually.

He also will give a free master class on crafting strong openings on Nov. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. over Zoom, presented by Writing Workshops Dallas. The workshop will cover openings by authors including Stephen King, Toni Morrison and Gabriel García Márquez.
