AMC has a few special offers planned to get people back in front of the big screen. A selection of old movies will be priced at just 15 cents plus tax on reopening day, a throwback to the prices moviegoers could expect at AMC in 1920, its first year of business. Among them are Back to the Future, Black Panther, Ghostbusters, Grease and Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back. Five-dollar concessions are on the menu too.

New releases are expected to hit AMC theaters the day after the reopenings. Unhinged, starring Russell Crowe; Cut Throat City; Words on Bathroom Walls; and Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula will all begin showing on Aug. 21. Old films will continue to screen at $5 a ticket.

Later this month, AMC aims to open 300 more locations ahead of the Aug. 28 release of Disney’s The New Mutants and the long-awaited spy flick Tenet on Sept. 3.

As AMC opens amid the coronavirus pandemic, it will reduce seating capacity and space out seat assignments to allow for social distancing. Masks will be mandatory for all attendees and employees, and the theaters will offer hand-sanitizing stations and disinfectant wipes. Additionally, extra time will be allotted between shows for cleaning.

In addition to AMC’s reopenings, Studio Movie Grill announced its locations at Arlington Lincoln Square and Plano will reopen this Friday, Aug. 14. They’ll join three already-open SMG theaters in North Texas: Arlington Highlands, Dallas Royal Lane and The Colony.

SMG locations are limited to 50% capacity to allow for social distancing. Through Aug. 23, loyalty members can reserve four free movie tickets for select films through the theater’s app. Membership is free and the app also allows for contactless concession orders, according to a release from the chain.
