‘Pleasure Style Attitude” — a film series that aims to create discussions around queerness, politics, race and class — returns Thursday with Beau Travail at the Texas Theatre Sunset Drive-In.
Set in Djibouti, the film explores the repression of homoerotic desire among a troop of French Legionnaires. It’s full of sublime imagery and features an unforgettable ending.
Catch this rare art house drive-in experience from the safety of your car, fuzzy radio and all, in the parking lot behind the Texas Theatere. In addition to this live showing, PSA will continue to host virtual screenings this fall.
Audiences can watch the series’ selected films at their own pace, before attending Zoom discussions led by programmers Daniel Laabs and Tony Nguyen that include conversations with filmmakers. The first virtual program is called “Imaging the Queer South: Remixing as Survival” and focuses on works by Marlon Riggs and Ellen Spiro with a discussion scheduled for Sept. 23.
