LISTEN: Why HBO Max and Hulu are focused on D-FW ax killer Candy Montgomery

News reporter Dan Singer talks in this special audio report about why we can’t move on from this story.

In 1980, Candy Montgomery killed her friend Betty Gore with an ax in the victim’s suburban Wylie home. Their families were close. The two 30-year-olds sang in the church choir together.

The trial in McKinney was a sensation. And in the end Montgomery was acquitted. Now, not one, but two streaming series — from Hulu and HBO Max — are in the works about what happened.
