Families can celebrate the new year at these festivals and kid-friendly countdowns

Missing bedtime is not required for this festive fun

Day 1 Dallas in Frisco

Start 2020 together. This annual festival seeks to strengthen healthy relationships and bonds by allowing whole families to kick off the new year. Formerly held at Fair Park, Day 1 Dallas this year moves to Frisco. There will be an afternoon of interactive games, arts and crafts, bounce houses, magicians, face painting, DJs, dance performances and more at Embassy Suites by Hilton Dallas Frisco Hotel Convention Center and Spa. At 6:30 p.m., the party will move next door to Dr Pepper Ballpark for a fireworks display set to kid-friendly music. Admission includes all activities for a range of ages and interests. In past years, the event has drawn up to 10,000 attendees for wholesome fun and a good cause: All event proceeds support Vogel Alcove, which “helps children recover from the traumatic effects of homelessness.”

Jan. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Embassy Suites’ convention center, 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive, Frisco, and Dr Pepper Ballpark, 7300 RoughRiders Trail, Frisco. $5 for ages 2 and older, $10 per car for parking. All activities are free; prices vary for concessions. day1dallas.com.
