ICE! exhibit at the Gaylord Texan is a no-go for 2020 holiday season

The popular winter wonderland won’t take shape at the resort this year.

Hold that parka. The Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine has announced that ICE!, its popular subzero holiday attraction, will not take place this year.

“Due to current restrictions on international travel which impact the master ice carvers, ICE! will not be offered this 2020 holiday season,” a Gaylord spokesperson said.

For the past 16 years a crew of Chinese ice sculptors has transformed 2 million pounds of ice into a chilly holiday wonderland of themed ice carvings, an ice slide and bar. Past visitors were offered complimentary parkas to wear while they toured the exhibit, which was maintained at 9 degrees.

Despite the cancellation of ICE!, there will still be plenty of holiday cheer at Gaylord Texan during a set of Christmas events that run Nov. 13 through Jan. 3, 2021, and include snow tubing, ice skating, gingerbread decorating, stories with Mrs. Claus and photo-friendly holiday décor placed throughout the resort’s 125 acres.
