The city of McKinney is not allowing COVID-19 to put a wrinkle in its Christmas cheer.
A full slate of holiday activities in downtown McKinney is on the calendar, beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving.
- The “Christmas Carousel” will begin running Nov. 27 at reduced capacity; horses will be sanitized after each ride.
- Visits with Santa, including a letter-writing station, will be available starting Nov. 28. Pictures with St. Nick can also be taken, with social distancing protocols in place.
- Mistletoe Market will take place Nov. 29, featuring local artist booths, handcrafted gifts and a kids' “Creation Station.”
- Saturday Storytime, presented by McKinney Public Libraries, starts Nov. 28 and runs every Saturday through Dec. 19. The free reading events also come with snacks and cocoa served in a socially distanced manner.
Interactive photo ops and Christmas ornament decorating, plus more cocoa and candied apples will be available at various times. For a complete list of dates and times for downtown holiday events, go here.
