Learn more about North Texas birds with a free, guided excursion at this Allen preserve

Bird watchers of all skill levels are welcome to join a guided tour at Connemara Meadow.

Do you want to learn about North Texas birds for free? Allen’s Connemara Conservancy is hosting its last free bird walk of the year s Saturday, Dec. 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Birders of any skill level can join by going to the Connemara Meadow on Alma Drive where participants can explore various birding habitats with a guide.

The conservancy hosted three other similar weekend events this fall and winter.

The Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve covers 72 acres of natural habitat reminiscent of the tall grass Blackland Prairie. According to the World Wildlife Fund, the Texas Blackland Prairie is an endangered habitat, with only 1% of the original vegetation remaining, in scattered parcels across the region.
