A 180-foot-tall Ferris wheel opened for its first ride in The Colony’s Grandscape entertainment center last weekend.
The year-round Grandscape Wheel is made up of 42 climate-controlled gondolas, including a special four-person VIP gondola that features a glass floor and Ferrari-style seating made of leather. Each standard gondola offers background music and seating for up to eight people.
“We are so proud to bring the Grandscape Wheel to The Colony, Texas and be a part of the immersive entertainment lineup at Grandscape,” SouthWest Wheel Partners developer and managing partner Jim Riggs said in a news statement.
The Grandscape Wheel is located at 5470 Grandscape Boulevard, Suite 300 near Nebraska Furniture Mart, Andretti Indoor Karting and Games and Scheels.
Operating Wednesday through Sunday, the Grandscape Wheel takes riders around about three times for a total ride time of 12 to 15 minutes.
To adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, the Grandscape Wheel currently only allows families of the same household in a single gondola. Hand sanitizer will be provided and gondolas will be sanitized between guests.
Tickets for a standard ride range between $12.01 and $15.94 per person, while children ages 3 or younger ride for free. The VIP gondola is nearly $50 per person and includes front-of-the-line access and a souvenir photo.
