The Dallas Mexican American Historical League is presenting a free photography exhibit that illustrates the demographic transition of the southern Dallas area throughout its history.
“Nuestro Oak Cliff” opened at The Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak St., and runs through Oct. 16. Launched during National Hispanic Heritage Month, the multimedia exhibit celebrates the neighborhood’s Mexican American culture. The exhibit includes photos, a documentary, a podcast and a six-week speaker series.
National Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15-Oct. 15, celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans. It began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon B. Johnson and was expanded to cover 30 days beginning in 1988 under President Ronald Reagan.
