St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano to provide free prom attire to high school girls

Shoppers will need to register online for the “Prom Closet” event.

St. Andrew United Methodist Church will host its annual Prom Closet event in February, according to an announcement from the church. Each year, the Prom Closet provides prom attire to more than 1,000 area high school girls at no cost.

Dates for the prom closet are Feb. 15, 16, 17, 19 and 21-26 in the church’s Smith Worship Center.

To help streamline the process, shoppers will need to register online for a shopping date and time. Registration for a 1.5 hour shopping appointment may be completed at this online form.

Shoppers must be present to pick out their own dress, the church said.

The Prom Closet, now in its 13th year, is a service of the United Methodist Women.

Donations of dresses, jewelry, shoes, handbags, wraps and other accessories are also being accepted now through Feb. 25.

All donations may be dropped off at the church in room 121. Drop off days and times are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.; and Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Donors should use the north entry door located off the north parking lot on 1401 Mira Vista.
