Arnold Schwarzenegger wants in on Taylor Sheridan’s shows. Where would he fit?

Would Schwarzenegger’s Austrian accent, even when delivered like a Terminator, work in a Western drama?

Asked whether he would like to appear in one of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise shows, Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t hesitate.

“Absolutely! I think he’s very talented,” Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent Q&A. “And the cast on [Yellowstone] is phenomenal.

“Today, I see much more of other people’s performances than I did in the ‘80s when I was only seeing myself. I was thinking: ‘I have to win.’ It was a competition against Sly [Stallone], against others. ‘I have to be number one.’”

Stallone wedged his way into a Sheridan production, Tulsa King, starring as a 75-year-old New York gangster who starts a criminal empire in Oklahoma.

But how and where would Schwarzenegger fit into a Western drama, the kind that Sheridan creates and produces?

Schwarzenegger’s last and only Western movie was The Villain (1979) in which he played Handsome Stranger and wore a tight, powder-blue outfit on his bodybuilding frame. He shared secondary billing with Paul Lynde and Ruth Buzzi.

Would his Austrian accent, even when delivered like in Terminator, work in a Western? Would he say “I’ll be back” after starting a cattle drive?

If Schwarzenegger were to be cast, Sheridan, a Weatherford resident who grew up in Fort Worth, would have options for him. He could fit into Lawman: Bass Reeves, or 1923, or 1944 (a sequel to 1923), or the yet-to-be-released 6666 about the famed West Texas ranch.

Judging by the synopsis of 6666′s storyline, Schwarzenegger could find a role as an international cowboy.

“The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately, where world-class cowboys are born and made.”

If he’s cast, Schwarzenegger would join other marquee names working with Sheridan. Those include Dennis Quaid and Donald Sutherland (Lawman: Bass Reeves) and Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren (1923) Matthew McConaughey is also waiting in the wings with a show to be named later.

Kevin Costner, who plays the patriarch of the Dutton family is leaving Yellowstone. The series is ending and a sequel will take its place in December.

Here’s more of the latest news from Taylor Sheridan’s orbit:

Cole Hauser can’t wait to work with McConaughey again

“He’s one of my dearest friends, and it’s always been a dream,” Hauser told WFAA-TV (Channel 8). “We’ve done a couple of things together, but to have an opportunity one day, I don’t know if it’s going to be this, I don’t know what it would be, but we’ll find something.”

Hauser, who plays ranch hand Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone, worked with McConaughey before on Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused (1993) in Austin.

Hauser lives in Florida but nearly moved to Texas.

“I was pretty close to moving to the Texas, Fort Worth area, but my wife [Cynthia Daniel] nixed it,” he said. “She’s from Florida, she’s from Gainesville, but she wanted to be around the water. And I totally understand.”

Sheridan needs local production assistants

So, you want to join a Sheridan production and your name isn’t McConaughey or Mirren? Sheridan’s crew is looking to hire production assistants who are available to work from now until the end of June.

It’s an entry-level job that includes such tasks as running errands, managing crowds or extras and moving equipment.

According to the official logline, the series “is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs.”
