Artist Kasey Short plans an audiovisual carnival in one-day show at Dallas Contemporary

Attendees are encouraged to wear overalls to the Feb. 18 exhibition.

What we wear influences how we think. And artist Kasey Short knows. At Dallas Contemporary, attendees are encouraged to wear overalls to his exhibition. Why? It’s the state of mind Short wants the audience to be in.

Viewers of his show, “The Tuna, the Whale, the Hillbilly and the Subterranean,” are asked to explore their relationships with the environment and technology through a visual and auditory carnival. Expect concoctions of colorful sheets, hand-drawn maps and video projections, as well as sculpture, performance and even augmented reality.

Short, a Dallas artist, teaches at the University of North Texas. The show is part of the “DC Empty” series, which brings regional artists to the Dallas Contemporary for short-term installations.
