Carhopping, the practice of burglarizing unlocked vehicles in search of anything of value, has become a lucrative "crime of opportunity" across Dallas-Fort Worth.
Dallas police responded to the crash at northbound Interstate 35 and Royal Lane. The suspect was questioned.
Police found the victim about 8 p.m. in the 4500 block of Gaston Avenue and the victim was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Police believe Horace Shaw III was driving between 100 and 110 mph and was under the influence of alcohol when his Mercedes slammed into the back of the Mazda SUV driven by Alyssa Pimentel.
Drivers will be directed to the service road from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.
The incident is being investigated as an unexplained death and there were no obvious signs of homicidal violence, police said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas police responded about 3:15 a.m. to U.S. 75 at Midpark Road, where the overturned vehicle had been struck by a second vehicle.
The children's mother called police Saturday and said she found the children dead along with children's father.
Police found the male stabbed in the upper body at 2:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Morning Avenue. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.
