Public charter jet service JSX adds new Dallas to Scottsdale route

JSX is offering $369 one-way airfares for its new route.

Public charter jet service JSX is growing at Dallas Love Field with a new route to Scottsdale, Ariz.

Beginning Oct. 3, JSX will fly the new nonstop route to Scottsdale Airport. The route also creates a one-stop flight between Dallas and John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif. JSX is offering passengers introductory fares beginning at $369 one way for its new route and the flights will operate once a day, four days a week on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday.

JSX’s introductory fares include at least two checked bags and free Wi-Fi, among other amenities. Nine routes run at Love Field for JSX.

“When customers ask, JSX delivers — and our dedicated fliers have been requesting a link between Dallas and Scottsdale since we first established our headquarters in the Lone Star State,” said Alex Wilcox, CEO of JSX in a release. “The entire JSX team takes great pride in providing safe, reliable public charter service to travelers across the nation, and we look forward to continuing our growth story as the year progresses.”

Last year, JSX caught heat from Fort Worth-based American Airlines and various pilot unions, criticizing the charter jet company’s business model. Part 135 operators, like JSX, are allowed to forgo Transportation Security Administration lines and other regulations placed on traditional airlines, but can only sell a maximum of 30 seats on their planes. Union leaders argue that JSX’s model depends on exploiting a public charter “loophole” to fly a published schedule with a 30-seat turbojet aircraft.

In December, JSX ordered up to 300 hybrid electric aircraft that carry nine to 30 passengers. Orders for the gas-electric hybrid aircraft are with three different manufacturers: Electra, Aura Aero and Heart Aerospace.
