Former Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas president Richard Fisher will chair Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson’s newly formed economic recovery task force.
Fisher, who led the Dallas Fed for 10 years, is now a senior adviser to Barclays and serves as a director of AT&T, PepsiCo, and Tenet Healthcare. He’s also a former deputy U.S. trade representative.
Johnson created the task force to explore solutions beyond city government’s scope for blunting COVID-19′s economic toll. The group will consider ways to boost vital sectors in Dallas, ranging from small business and health care to the service industry and nonprofits.
“Dallas is a city of doers,” Fisher said in a statement. “We never shy from a complex task. Until COVID-19 raised its ugly head, we led the nation in economic expansion and job creation.”
Besides Fisher and Johnson, the task force will include City Council members Adam McGough and Casey Thomas. Fisher also will recruit other community leaders for the group.
