Nanoscope Therapeutics Inc. announced Tuesday that it has moved its corporate headquarters to Trinity Towers off Stemmons Freeway in Dallas. The company was previously headquartered in Bedford.
Trinity Towers, in the heart of the Dallas Medical District, was recently purchased by a Wisconsin-based medical real estate firm and is home to major tenants including Aetna Life Insurance children’s health administration offices, Children’s Medical Foundation of Texas, Neilson Audio and Wellness Centers of Texas.
“Moving to Trinity Towers places us in the heart of the growing health care community in Dallas,” said Nanoscope co-founder Sulagna Bhattacharya in a statement. “Rapid growth is expected for Nanoscope in 2023, and Trinity Towers provides an excellent space for our expanding team to collaborate.”
Nanoscope Therapeutics specializes in developing gene therapies for degenerative eye diseases. Its leading technology is MCO-010, a type of eye injection that goes into the liquid part of the eye, or the vitreous. There, the gene therapy is delivered to the cells of the eye that observe light. Degenerative eye diseases that cause blindness often damage these cells, so the injection therapy may prevent the development of blindness over time.
The therapy is being evaluated in two clinical trials for the treatment of severe vision loss caused by retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt disease, respectively. The company expects to see results from the first trial, which is already fully enrolled, in the first quarter of next year. The second study is underway, and the first benchmark of data, around the six-month mark, is also expected in first-quarter 2023.
The injections can be completed in an office setting, and the first patient in the trial received a dose of the treatment at the end of last month.
Crunchbase reported that Nanoscope raised $3.5 million in research funding since 2020, including $1.5 million from the National Institutes of Health. The company disputes this number and claims it has raised $13 million in undisclosed funding from a Series A investment.
The company will have an open house at the Trinity Towers office on Aug. 17 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate the move.
