Mandy Price is one of two Black women co-founders of the technology platform Kanarys.

A DeSoto High School graduate appeared on Good Morning America recently to talk about the technology platform she co-founded to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Mandy Price is the CEO of Kanarys, which collects data to foster collaboration between companies and employees to combat workplace discrimination.

In the Good Morning America interview, Price discussed why she founded Kanarys with business partner Star Carter, a fellow graduate of Harvard Law School.

“I remember on separate occasions someone asking me if I got into Harvard legitimately,” said Price, who also has an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas. “It’s clear that the person doesn’t see me for me and the value that I bring, and my expertise.”

“This is truly based on data and analytics so employees can talk to you anonymously,” she said. “You can see exactly where you weaknesses are, where your strengths are.”

Kanarys recommended two ways employees can demonstrate inclusiveness, according to GMA: adding pronouns to your email signature and speaking up when you see a microaggression in your workplace to let co-workers know they have your support.
