The Fielder Plaza shopping center in Arlington is getting a redo.

A 40-year-old Arlington retail center is getting a major makeover.

The 158,000-square-foot shopping center opened in 1978 and is anchored by Tom Thumb, CVS Pharmacy and Pet Supermarket stores.

Weitzman will start work next month to give the project a total facelift with a new exterior, signage, landscaping, parking and lighting.

"Despite its age, Fielder Plaza through dedicated leasing and management has remained one of the best-performing centers in the trade area and offers not only a leading grocery anchor but also a popular lineup of shops, services and restaurants," Weitzman's Joe Lea said in a statement.

Other tenants in the popular retail project include Starbucks, Mathnasium, Edible Arrangements, Batteries Plus, Luna Spa, Tandoor Indian Restaurant, Bombay Bazaar and Sukothai Restaurant.
