Transamerica plans Plano office move in May

Insurance firm headed to Legacy Central campus

Insurance and financial services giant Transamerica Corp. will start moving hundreds of its workers to a new Plano office this spring.

The Iowa-based company has leased almost 37,000 square feet in the Legacy Central mixed-use development at U.S. Highway 75 and Legacy Drive.

“Transamerica’s Plano employees will move from their current location at 2700 West Plano Parkway to a new location at 6600 Chase Oaks Boulevard,” the address of Legacy Central, vice president Julie Quinlan said in an email. “We anticipate that employees will move to the new location in May.

“The new office space was selected to meet the needs of our business and our employees.”

Transamerica’s current office is in West Plano near Bush Turnpike.

The insurance company is joining Samsung, fitness equipment firm Peloton, coworking company Space and other office tenants in the 84-acre Legacy Central project.

“We are 65% committed with leases in process,” said Regent CEO Eric Fleiss.

In 2016, California-based Regent Properties bought the former Texas Instruments campus that dates to the 1980s. Regent is redeveloping the old tech center into a mixed-use project with new office, retail, conference facilities, additional parking and apartments.
