The exterior of this Old Preston Hollow home gives the impression of a traditional home with updates that suit modern design elements. The crisp white exterior and iron front door contrast the traditional French design.
Though the Dallas home was built in 2001, the current owners completely renovated it in 2019 with the help of designer Morgan Farrow of Morgan Farrow Interiors. Updates ranged from the addition of new doors and windows to remodeling the kitchen for a more open living area.
Farrow said that the concept of communal living was an important part of the updates to the kitchen, breakfast and living areas.
“That was super important to the family, to open up” Farrow said. “Open up those spaces so it felt like they were connected.”
At 6,253 square feet, the home has numerous living spaces inside and out. The newly updated kitchen features blue toned cabinetry with marble cabinetry and all new appliances. The breakfast room and family room connect to the kitchen, and there’s also a wet bar with the same blue cabinetry as the kitchen. A formal living room and dining room sit at the front of the house and look out onto the front yard.
The home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bathroom. The master bedroom sits on the first floor. The master bathroom features marble floors, countertops and a new soaking bathtub set in front of a window.
Farrow said she wanted to keep the design consistent throughout the house, and the color palette is consistent throughout the two floors.
On the second floor, there is a media room at the top of the staircase with bold, navy blue walls and new speakers, systems and screen.
All of the rooms, including the upstairs bedrooms, feature designer lighting fixtures picked out by Farrow.
“We did bring in all new lighting which really helped identify the personality of the house,” Farrow said. “They just have a touch of glam which I think, for this really clean palette, sort of cranked it up a notch on the luxury scale.”
Outside, the backyard has a large pool and spa with water features, a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen.
