One of the world’s biggest cabinet firms plans facility in southern Dallas

American Woodmark already already operates three facilities in North Texas.

One of the world’s largest cabinet manufacturers is eyeing a new facility in southern Dallas.

Virginia-based American Woodmark Corp. has more than 10,000 employees and manufacturing operations in nine states.

The company sells over a dozen brands of cabinets used in home construction, remodeling and commercial projects.

American Woodmark already operates three facilities in North Texas, including a service center in Coppell and two plants in southern Dallas. Now the company is looking at leasing a large new warehouse south of Interstate 20, according to filings with the state.

The big industrial deal is in developer Trammell Crow Co.'s 100-acre business park. American Woodmark would take all of the first building in the project at 9280 Van Horn Drive, according to the information provided to the state.

“The distribution center will be an addition to our current operating locations,” American Woodmark’s Kelly Menk said in an email. “We’re aiming to open the approximately 298,000 square foot facility later this year.”

Alliance Architects is designing the project.

North Texas is a major market for American Woodmark. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is the country’s top single-family homebuilding market and one of the largest locations in the U.S. for apartment building.

American Woodmark is the latest company shopping for industrial space in southern Dallas County. Several large warehouse and distribution leases have recently been signed by companies including FedEx, Amazon and Mars foods.

The Altamoore Drive business park is being developed by Trammell Crow Co. in partnership with CBRE Global Investors.

The first three buildings started in the project will have more than 615,000 square feet of warehouse and distribution space.
