Dallas’ landmark Mansion on Turtle Creek hotel is celebrating a redo

The posh Oak Lawn restaurant and hotel have been a favorite for 40 years.

Dallas' landmark Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek Hotel is celebrating its 40th birthday with a new look.

The posh Oak Lawn hotel is ready to show off its remodeled guest rooms, a redone lobby and other upgrades.

Originally built in the 1920s as the mansion for a cotton tycoon, the grand home was facing demolition in the late 1970s when Dallas oil heiress and businesswoman Caroline Rose Hunt bought it.

Hunt restored the original Italian Renaissance-style house overlooking Turtle Creek into an exclusive restaurant that opened in the summer of 1980.
