New York developer is working on West Dallas retail

Restaurant and retail construction joins apartment community.

A New York investor and developer that bought a West Dallas rental community is planning a retail addition to the project.

Sackman Enterprises acquired the more than 300-unit Broadstone apartments on West Commerce Street near Fort Worth Avenue in 2019.

Built by Alliance Residential in 2017, the apartment community is just west of downtown Dallas in an area seeing rapid redevelopment.

Now the Manhattan-based real estate company plans to add 13,800 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space to the rental community, according to filings with the state.

Construction is set to start in January.

Dallas’ Architecture Demarest designed the new space.

Sackman Enterprises is an almost 50-year-old company with extensive holdings in New York City.

The company has also expanded its operations to projects in the Carolinas, Colorado and Texas.

In Austin, the developer built the 34-story 70 Rainey condominium tower overlooking Lady Bird Lake near downtown.

The West Dallas neighborhood where Sackman Enterprises’ owns apartments is quickly being redeveloped with new residential and retail development. The company’s property is just south of the popular Trinity Groves complex.
