Wish you had two kitchens to prep for holiday meals? See Dallas-area luxury houses that have them

If too many cooks spoil the broth, spread them out a little. These North Texas homes have the solution.

Whether you spend the holidays roasting turkeys for fancy family meals, baking cookies, or preparing traditional dishes, cooking can be the center of many family celebrations. If your kitchen is covered with baked goods and sweet and savory treats, you might be fantasizing about more space.

In some luxury homes in North Texas, you’ll find two kitchens: one for prep and one for looks (and probably for function, too). Imagine all the pies you could bake.

Take a look at these luxury homes we’ve featured, and marvel at their double kitchens.

Contrasting kitchens

Dallas designer Chad Dorsey was tasked with creating the kitchen area in a house listed for $5.75 that was used as a canvas for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. The exhibition, which brought in dozens of designers to renovate each room in their unique way, took place for a month from September to October of this year.

Dorsey’s design featured two kitchens, each with unique color schemes and different purposes. The first kitchen, which had an open flow into a living and dining area, featured darker materials, hidden appliances, and a hand-painted mirror accent.

The second kitchen, a prep kitchen, sat hidden behind a wall featured a contrasting design of bright, crisp whites, pale colors and brass details.

Flexible spaces

Completed in 2020, this Bluffview home has historic details and is the work of a designer who just moved his business from California to Texas. It also has two kitchens, both with minimalist designs and color palettes that are consistent with the entire home.

The main kitchen, which is open to the living area, has all-white cabinets and surfaces with metallic accents. The prep kitchen is hidden behind a wall and has an abundance of cabinets.

Entertaining in mind

This spec house on Dallas’ iconic Strait Lane was completed in 2020 and is filled with an abundance of natural light. The agent has called it an “entertaining house” and it is certainly so with two kitchens. One is designated for catering.
