‘This is the house that ‘Dallas’ built’: Patrick Duffy selling ranch for $14 million

You’re not dreaming: Property boasts 2 miles of river frontage, wildlife, a bass pond, rustic barns, tillable acreage, pastures and more.

Former Dallas star Patrick Duffy — aka Bobby Ewing — put a lot of memories into the nearly 400-acre Oregon ranch that he just put on the market for $14 million.

The property sits along the Rogue River outside of Medford in southern Oregon. It has character with 2 miles of river frontage with steelhead trout and salmon, elk and blacktail deer, a two-acre bass pond, rustic barns, tillable acreage, pastures and more.

Duffy first saw the property’s potential while fishing with a friend. He bought the first portion of the property in 1990, acquiring roughly 130 acres for about $1.5 million with his late wife, Carlyn Rosser.

Duffy and Rosser made the ranch their primary home in the early 2000s. They spent nearly two decades and about $3 million buying adjacent properties to expand the homestead to its current size. As the couple bought adjacent properties over the years, they acquired eight more houses and several pastures that are rented out to local ranchers.

The four-bedroom main house connects to a gallery where the couple displayed their art collection. The gallery holds specific memories for Duffy, who added to the collection as his career grew. Landing a role on a major network TV drama helped fund their dream.

Dallas provided an “amazing opportunity,” Duffy said in a Sotheby’s International-produced video in 2018.

“It allowed us to look at what we wanted to do most,” he said. “So, this is the house that Dallas built. And the gallery is full of the art that Dallas bought.”

In a YouTube video posted by Cascade Hasson Sotheby’s International Realty, Duffy said he referred to the property as “the ranch.”

“People would say ‘Oh, you got a ranch, like Dallas? Not exactly, but yes it is,” he said on the video. “It is my kingdom — [while] the Dallas Southfork Ranch was the Ewing kingdom, this is the Duffy kingdom.”

Duffy and Rosser used the ranch as a retreat from their primary home in Los Angeles. With the children off to college, they moved there full-time. Rosser died in 2017.

“Patrick has been coming up here for 30 years,” said Alan DeVries of Sotheby’s International Realty, who has the listing with colleague Matt Cook. “He’s had Larry Hagman, Suzanne Somers and several other personalities up here.

“They’ve experienced something here that can’t be described.”
