See a six-bedroom home in University Park that faces Lovers Lane

This is the first time the home has been on the market in more than 50 years, according to the listing.

This 11,955-square-foot home in University Park is located in Volk Estates, an area known for exclusive, high-price properties. The home at 7037 Turtle Creek Blvd. was originally built in 1939, according to the listing. The listing agent said some updates have been made throughout the years, including two additions.

Co-listing agent Jeanne Shelton of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty said the property had been passed down in a family for the last 50-plus years, though this family was not the original owner for whom the home was built.

Shelton said the family who owned the home for the last half-century “always maintained the purity of the look of the house” in the renovations over the years.

The home is on a 0.883-acre lot with fountains, patios, extensive landscaping and a pool.

Shelton said that the home’s orientation on the property — it faces Lovers Lane — allows for ample natural light throughout the home.

“I do think that the architecture of the house and the way that it sits on the lot is really spectacular,” Shelton said.

The main level of the home has multiple living spaces, including a dining room and living room, a “garden room,” a library, a great room and a family room. In the great room, the floors are hand-poured terrazzo with brass inlay, Shelton said. This room has a fireplace, built-in bookcases and a full bar.

The home’s kitchen is clad in white marble and has white cabinets, and a breakfast room is nearby. The kitchen is open to the family room, which has a vaulted ceiling, abundant windows, a fireplace and more built-in bookcases. The family room has access to a covered patio outside.

All of the home’s six bedrooms are on the second level, Shelton said. The primary suite includes a balcony, a sitting area, two bathrooms and two closets. Also on this level are a playroom, a library or living room and a utility room. The home’s third level includes a game room, a half-bathroom and a storage space. All levels are accessible by elevator.

The home also has guest quarters above the garage. This space has a bedroom, bathroom, living area and kitchen, according to the floor plan.

The home is listed for $12.900,000 by Jeanne Shelton and Doug Shelton of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.
