New apartment project coming for Allen’s downtown district

Wolverine Interests will build rental community on the east side of U.S. 75.

A new apartment community starting soon in Allen will bring development east of U.S. Highway 75 in the city’s downtown district.

Plano-based developer Wolverine Interests is planning 392 rental units in its Allen City Center project at Main Street and U.S. 75. Construction is set to start this summer, with an opening in mid-2024.

The rental community is planned in an area where the city of Allen hopes to see more development near its historic downtown. The Allen City Council recently approved a new development plan for the neighborhoods near the original downtown.

“We have worked over five years with city leadership and the community to bring an exciting opportunity to help start making a vibrant central business district for Allen,” said Jim Leslie, president at Wolverine Interests. “Our product will not only provide some world-class housing but will also bring more permanent residents to the area to spur much more retail and housing development. I think once we start others will also.”
