Huge business park on the way in Wilmer south of Dallas

The industrial project adds to almost 17 million square feet of warehouses planned in southern Dallas County.

A Dallas developer has teamed up with a major institutional investor to build a huge business park in Wilmer.

The Southport Logistics Center will have almost 1.5 million square feet of industrial space in two buildings near Interstate 45. Bandera Ventures — which has a track record of building some of North Texas’ biggest industrial projects — is developing the Wilmer development in partnership with Invesco Real Estate.

Both buildings will open later this year.

“The ideal location, adjacent to I-45, will provide easy access and connectivity, optimizing our customers’ production and distribution processes,” Tom Leiser, partner at Bandera Ventures, said in a statement.

The business park will be near the Union Pacific Intermodal yard.

Southern Dallas County is North Texas’ fastest growing industrial building market, with almost 17 million square feet of projects under construction in the first quarter.

Bandera Ventures recently bought land in Lancaster for a new data center campus. It also built a five-building Gateway Logistics Center at the south end of DFW International Airport that sold to investors in 2020.
