8 North Texas homes are among the state’s priciest listings for May

A landmark $60 million estate in North Dallas ranks alongside luxurious lake homes and high-rise penthouses.

Buyers looking to spend more than $10 million on a home or as much as $60 million have plenty of options to choose from in North Texas.

Eight homes in the region ranked among the most expensive new real estate listings in the state in May, according to a monthly list compiled by the Houston Association of Realtors.

The most expensive listing in the state to hit the market last month was in North Dallas, the $60 million Crespi Estate. The landmark home was once owned by Tom Hicks, a Dallas investor and former owner of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars.

The priciest listings in North Texas this month were scattered throughout the region, from Uptown Dallas and University Park to the Athens area and Decatur. Two were condo units near downtown Dallas.

5619 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas

The 15-plus-acre Crespi Estate hit the market at the start of May. The 27,000-square-foot, 10-bedroom, five-bath mansion has been owned since 2019 by a trust of Dallas’ Cox family. Real estate agents with Dallas’ Allie Beth Allman & Associates are listing the grand property for sale.

Built in the 1930s by Italian-born cotton baron Pio Crespi, the French chateau-inspired house is covered in Indiana limestone and decorative ironwork.

The estate includes a 3,347-square-foot guesthouse and a 4,836-square-foot pool house on landscaped grounds near the northwest corner of Walnut Hill and the Dallas North Tollway.

The estate was last listed for sale at $38 million before being acquired by representatives of the Charlee Lochridge Cox Dynasty Trust. The trust was founded by Dallas’ prominent Edwin L. Cox family.

The lakeside home at 15788 Barron Road on a 30-acre lot in Caney City hit the market for $35 million this month.

Built in 2021, the home has 700 feet of frontage along Cedar Creek Lake, according to the listing from Allie Beth Allman & Associates. The main house has nine bedrooms in addition to three guest homes on the property.

The six-bedroom home at 6825 Golf Drive in University Park is on the market for $22 million. Built in 2018, the home was designed with a contemporary take on Spanish Revival architecture, according to the listing from Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

Outside is an infinity-edge pool, spa, poolhouse, outdoor kitchen, fireplace and a lower terrace overlooking Turtle Creek.

An 11,115-square-foot penthouse in the 28-story Hall Arts Residences in the Arts District hit the market for $15 million. The building was completed in 2020 across from the Meyerson Symphony Center.

The four-bedroom, six-bathroom condo has its own pool and spa and panoramic views of downtown Dallas and beyond, according to the listing from Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

If you don’t want to spend your $15 million on a downtown condo, another option is a five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home along Cedar Creek Lake in Malakoff, one hour and 15 minutes from Dallas.

The lakeside estate built in 1997 has 1,000 feet of shoreline on the lake with a sand beach and boat dock, according to the listing from Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

2721 Old Decatur Road, Decatur

An almost 10,000-square-foot Spanish-style mansion just north of Decatur with its own helipad is on the market for $14.25 million.

The owners, longtime contractors Bradina and Michael Benson, just listed the 25-acre property along Old Decatur Road, which also includes a two-bedroom pool house and one-bedroom guest villa.

The property is about 30 miles west of Denton and surrounded by the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands, more than 20,000 acres of land used for activities such as hiking, camping and fishing managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Soaring views of the grasslands can be seen from the home.

3130 N. Harwood St., Unit 3201, Dallas

Another high-rise penthouse hit the market for $12.8 million in the Bleu Ciel condo tower in Uptown on Harwood Street. The 8,200, two-story condo unit has a pool with a view of the downtown Dallas skyline.

23880 Alexander Road, Pilot Point

A newly constructed four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in the fast-growing city of Pilot Point is on the market for $11.6 million. The property is about 55 miles from downtown Dallas. Austin Reed of Keller Williams North Country is the listing agent.
