A new manufacturing plant south of Dallas will bring at least 50 new jobs.
Contemporary Glass Tempering LLC plans to construct the 80,000 square-foot manufacturing facility on Interstate 45 in Ferris.
“The city of Ferris and Contemporary Glass Tempering LLC have been working together for some time to reach this point,” Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams said in a statement. “The addition of Contemporary Glass Tempering is in line with the strategic plan of the city of Ferris and our goal to cultivate an environment conducive to strong and sustainable economic development.
“The addition of Contemporary Glass Tempering and their facility improves our tax base, adds well-paying jobs to our local economy.”
Contemporary Glass Tempering also has plants in its hometown of Houston and in New Braunfels.
The new Ferris plant will be built in the 700 block of I-45 South.
It’s the second major announcement in the Ellis County town in the last week.
Dallas-based Henry S. Miller Co. is planning a $35 million apartment and mixed-use development in Ferris. The project will include more than 200 rental units on a more than 11-acre site west of I-45 between FM 664 and FM 893.
Located about 20 miles south of downtown Dallas, Ferris has a population of about 3,000. The town was once known for its brick industry, which manufactured millions of bricks for homes and buildings throughout the state.
