A Dallas-based data center company is planning a huge addition to its Plano tech buildings.
Aligned Data Centers has operations in markets in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
The company’s flagship data center campus is near Plano Parkway north of Bush Turnpike, where the company already has two large buildings.
Now, Aligned Data Centers has filed plans with the city to construct a large building on 44 acres on the west side of North Star Road. The two-story data center building will total more than 450,000 square feet. A new electrical substation is also planned on the site.
Aligned Data Centers already has two large buildings on Summit Avenue in Plano — one with 375,000 square feet and another with 220,000 square feet.
Earlier this year, the company announced new cooling technologies for increased densities and sustainability at its facilities.
Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the country’s largest data center markets, with more than 1.4 million square feet of projects underway at the end of 2023.
Less than 4% of current data center space in D-FW was vacant at the end of the year.
Several major data center projects are under construction in North Texas.
Dallas-based Databank Inc. is planning a $280 million, 265,000-square-foot expansion of its Plano data center at 8735 Dominion Parkway, according to planning documents filed with the state.
Skybox Datacenters and developer Bandera Ventures are building a data center campus on 100 acres in Lancaster near Interstate 35E.
Addison-based Compass Datacenters is adding to its more than 500-acre data center campus near Interstate 35E in Red Oak.
