NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has sold one of his two homes in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Months after closing on a home in Rockwall County, O’Neal offloaded a Carrollton estate he purchased in 2022, according to Denton County property records.
The sales price wasn’t disclosed, and listing agent Zac Gideo of Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate didn’t respond to questions before publication.
The asking price for the 5,269-square-foot home was just shy of $1.7 million. Built in 2005, the house has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half-baths. O’Neal put the home up for sale last month.
The former listing boasted of a “moody cigar lounge-esque library” just off the foyer with a tiered ceiling, fireplace, and a wall of built-in shelving. A wall of windows gives views of the lagoon-style backyard pool and palm trees. The estate also has a gated motor court and a three-car garage.
Other noteworthy features include two large walk-in attic spaces and a six-seat media room. The home is in Gates of Prestonwood, a luxury gated community.
The Carrollton property was a part-time residence for the NBA legend, who won four NBA titles during his career.
D-FW was a resting point before the basketball analyst headed to the West Coast for business, he previously told The Dallas Morning News. The expansion of O’Neal’s Big Chicken chain restaurant was also cited as a reason for buying in North Texas.
O’Neal listed the Carrollton home three months after closing on a roughly 4,700-square-foot home in Heath, about 25 miles from downtown Dallas.
The Chexy Trust, which has been associated with previous O’Neal real estate transactions across the country, purchased the property in April, according to Rockwall County property records.
O’Neal was seen out and about in D-FW around the Fourth of July weekend. He took a selfie with a police officer in Carrollton and shopped at a Walmart in Rockwall. Others took pictures with him at fast food chain Raising Cane’s in Rockwall too.
“I’m gonna end up living in Dallas for the rest of my life,” O’Neal told The News earlier this week as he discussed being spotted in North Texas and details about his upcoming electronic music festival in Fort Worth.
He’s already got his eyes set on another D-FW property, too — a 14,000-square-foot castle-style home in Southlake.
“It matches me,” O’Neal previously said, explaining that as a kid he called himself “Shaq-ula,” a play on Dracula, who, as legend goes, lived in a gothic castle. “Let the castle owners know that Shaq is coming for their house.”
