Tuesday Morning stores in Arlington, Irving and Richardson to close as retailer files for bankruptcy

A dozen Dallas-Fort Worth stores are among the 230 locations that will close.

More than 230 stores will close with the bankruptcy filing of Tuesday Morning, the Dallas-based home furnishings retailer.

Maria Halkias reported Wednesday that the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The “forced prolonged closure” due to the pandemic strained finances, the company said.

Two stores in Richardson, one in Irving and one in Arlington are among those closing. The addresses are 819 Arapaho Road and 1750 E. Belt Line Road in Richardson; 3401 W. Airport Freeway in Irving; and 5930 Interstate 20 West in Arlington.

Twelve of the company’s 37 locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will close, including locations in Austin, Clute, Lufkin, Pasadena, San Antonio and Seabrook.

The stores that will be the first to close “were identified as underperforming or are situated in areas where too many locations are in close proximity," the company said.

Tuesday Morning is among many companies suffering the financial fallout of COVID-19. Neiman Marcus and J.C. Penney both declared bankruptcy as well. Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit hospital system in Texas, announced Tuesday it will lay off about 1,200 employees.
