Legacy West to add five luxury retailers as it completes its final building with storefronts

The $3 billion Plano project started opening in 2017, and this will be the last building to be completed along its main street, Windrose Avenue.

Legacy West has signed on a handful of popular luxury retailers to keep shoppers from straying south to Dallas.

That’s the plan, said Legacy West developer Fehmi Karahan. “Growth remains strong up north here in places like Prosper and Celina. We see a separate market here for retailers.”

The Plano mixed-used development just completed its final building that will have storefronts on the street level and turned the spaces over to Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Gucci and Tory Burch.

Those retailers all have locations in Dallas, either at NorthPark Center, Highland Park Village or Galleria Dallas.

The brands are expected to have their Legacy West stores open by spring or June at the latest, Karahan said. The new building is across from the Food Hall ,and the barricades announcing the new stores went up in the last couple of weeks.

Another concept that’s new to North Texas, Chanel Fragrance and Beauté boutique, will open in a space vacated by Sugarfina, which closed all of its stores last year after filing for bankruptcy. There are only seven Chanel beauty boutiques in the U.S. and one other in Texas at Domain Northside in Austin.

“In today’s difficult retail environment, being able to attract such a great lineup of world-class retailers is a testament to the success of Legacy West,” Karahan said.

The new building has four spaces that range from 2,060 square feet for Tory Burch to 5,237 square feet for Gucci. Tiffany & Co. will be in 4,132 square feet, and Louis Vuitton will occupy 4,439 square feet.

With the new building completed, Legacy West has 341,552 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 800 apartments and 445,000 square feet of office space. Law firm Haynes & Boone has leased the second level above the stores in the new building.

Karahan said he has one more 12-acre parcel at Highway 121 and the Dallas North Tollway at Legacy West’s northern tip that is undeveloped. It’s suited for a corporate tenant, he said.
