Top 100 Places to Work winners get a leg up in employee recruiting

This year, 337 companies entered the competition, and 73,071 of their workers determined the results.

The hiring shortage has gotten a lot of press this year, and you’re about to meet 100 companies that have set themselves up to attract the cream of the crop.

We invited 3,824 companies to participate in the Top 100 Places to Work competition this year and surveyed 337 of them, up from last year’s pandemic-suppressed 246. The companies that entered have 145,686 employees, and the winning companies were chosen from the survey responses of 74,097 of those workers.

I love reading the entry forms, especially the 7,867 comments we got this year explaining why people love their jobs. My favorites come from people who sound a little crabby, like the one who said I love my company because: Well compensated, left alone.

And some come from people who haven’t quite recovered from the horrible jobs they had before:

I come from a much different (worse) environment in my last job, so this feels like a beautiful oasis. :)

I was miserable at my last job. I was overworked, under- appreciated and put down.

The very last comment on the spreadsheet summed up the program as well as any: We have great people. Let’s keep them!

That’s why we do this competition. It helps workers find great companies and gives our winning firms bragging rights that no one can take away.

Next year’s competition will open in March, and you can watch for the notice that entries are open in the Business section of The Dallas Morning News or at dallasnews.com/top100.
