CEO Jim Fite says the company invested in technology tools years ago that put it ahead of the pack when the pandemic struck.

“We have used videoconferencing for over 12 years on a regular basis to communicate and by utilizing training platforms,” he said. “In 2022, we installed Zoom rooms in many of our locations for an enhanced learning environment.”

One constant, the employees tell us, is the sense of community, both within the company and in the neighborhoods they serve.

For the past five years, its foundation has given grants to folks going through life emergencies. The grants are limited to $2,500 so that the program can help more people. This is in addition to Judge Fite’s long-standing support of Easterseals.

“We have helped to pay for many funerals, car repairs so that people can get to work and cancer treatments in hopes that just a little will help,” said Jan Fite Miller, foundation board member and executive vice president of the brokerage firm that bears her family’s name.

In one recent week, the Judge Fite Charitable Foundation gave a combined $7,500 to build a ramp for a woman whose husband was just put on hospice, to help a single mom overwhelmed by medical bills after her son was diagnosed with a rare disease and to pay funeral expenses for a grandmother who had sole responsibility for two teenagers who are now left to fend for themselves.

“I may be proudest when we can react immediately — within 24 hours — to help with house fires or flood victims who can often use some fast cash,” she said.
