The State Fair Go Texan pavilion is online this year with spices, jams, coffee and more

The Texas Department of Agriculture is promoting its Texas-made food items.

You may not be able to attend the State Fair this year, but you’ll still be able to shop the Go Texan general store virtually.

Adapting to COVID times, the Texas Department of Agriculture will launch its Go Texan virtual pavilion Sept. 25, where you can shop for your Go Texan general store faves.

Look for local artisans, including Corsicana’s C&J Farms Texas Artisan Seasonings, made with fresh herbs, and Fate’s grilling-centric One & Done Seasoning. Also Charlie’s Treats spiced pecans, made by teen entrepreneur Charlie Kobdish in Lakewood. You’ll find Dallas' super-intense, sometimes wine- or spirits-infused Jammit Jams as well as Plano’s Texas Toffee, which includes its spicy Gotcha line, among the many vendors.

But the virtual store, like the fair, pulls from all over the state, with tasty treats such as Scoville Warming Hot Sauce that you can cool down with Indian-style Gallivant mawa ice cream, both from Houston. Also Parker Co. Coffee Roasters, J Welch Farms' Texas olive oil from Victoria, and Davis Mountains Nut Co., to name a few.

Shop.GoTexan.org goes live Sept. 25 and continues through Oct. 18. Just like the real store, you order and pay for everything in one place. Then it’s shipped to you. Besides foodstuffs, you’ll also find soaps, candles, Texas kitsch and more.

Watch for the mobile billboard announcing the Go Texan website as it rolls through the North Texas landscape Friday through Sunday.
