As the official start of summer nears, Juneteenth holiday weekend temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s.
To combat the heat, Plano residents and visitors can hit up indoor pickleball courts across the city or cool off at the new aquatic facility at Oak Point Recreation Center. They can also enjoy cold treats at esteemed dessert shops.
Here are five ice cream and frozen treat spots to visit in Plano this summer.
Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream — 3100 Independence Parkway, Suite #215
The award-winning shop that moved from Philadelphia to Plano in 1992 manufactures its own homemade ice cream for restaurants, hotels and its retail scoop store. At Henry’s, guests can enjoy a customized banana split, bite into a crunchy pretzel cone, indulge in a variety of flavors from strawberry to bacon, or order an ice cream cake for that special person in their life.
Treat Yo Self — 4141 E. Park Blvd., Suite #102
This self-service frozen yogurt destination in East Plano is within walking distance from Plano East Senior High School. Frozen yogurt lovers can treat themselves with flavors like cake batter and strawberry kiwi sorbet. Top it off with fruit, gummy worms and other delicious garnish.
Amorino — 7700 Windrose Avenue, Suite G157
Legacy West visitors can appreciate a taste of Italy at this European gelato brand created in 2002. With an additional shop in Dallas, Amorino offers 24 flavors — from tiramisu to blueberry cheesecake — as well as gluten-free and fat-free options. Not just tasty, Amorino’s gelato is fashioned into a beautiful flower shape atop the cone.
Paleta Mia Ice Cream — 1405 Jupiter Road, Suite #108
Vibrant and flavorful, paletas are no ordinary popsicle. The Mexican frozen treat can be made from fresh fruits or rich ingredients like chocolate and Sicilian pistachio. Visit Plano’s Paleta Mia location to experience a range of flavors with a special punch. Toppings included.
Sugar Pine Creamery — 6832 Coit Road, Suite #270B
At Sugar Pine Creamery, expect variety. The premier soft-serve shop changes out its flavors bi-weekly with new options or returning classics. Dairy free flavors always show up on the menu. Through June 25, stop by for a taste of Peach Hibiscus, Jackfruit Mango, Bourbon Butterscotch, Apricot Almond, Key Lime Pie or Pandan Coconut. For those not wanting a soft serve, milk teas and ice teas are available.
