It’s a good time to be a sushi lover in North Texas. In addition to newer omakase restaurants Tatsu and Shoyo in Dallas, longtime favorites Oishii, Uchi, Shinsei and Tei Tei continue to delight.
But there’s always something new to try, too. In summer and fall 2023, six new affordable spots have opened across D-FW, from East Dallas to Frisco. Three more are coming soon.
Restaurants listed in alphabetical order.
Bluefin in Frisco
This locally-owned restaurant opened in August 2023 and features a classic menu of traditional sushi, fried sushi rolls, riceless rolls, sashimi, bowls, hibachi and bento boxes, Community Impact reports. Rolls start at $7.50. Bluefin is at 615 Main St., Frisco.

Maji Sushi in Uptown Dallas
Diners didn’t have much time to mourn the late-August 2023 closing of longtime sushi spot Yutaka in Uptown before a new concept took its place. Maji Sushi, which opened Sept. 1, 2023, is owned by Christine Park, reports CultureMap. Park said Maji will keep many of Yutaka’s popular rolls, but she’ll expand the menu to include daily lunch specials and more bar options. Maji Sushi is at 2633 McKinney Ave., Dallas.
Naminohana Sushi & Handroll Bar in East Dallas
Finally, a new handroll spot! Naminohana opened in August 2023 and is walk-in only with bar seating, reports our Sarah Blaskovich. The menu changes regularly, based on the fish that owner Sung Kim can get. Her current favorite is the hamachi (yellowtail) handroll with scallions. Naminihana Sushi & Handroll Bar is at 5521 Greenville Ave., Dallas.
