Stop by Portillo’s Beef Bus food truck for buy-one, get-one sandwiches

Ahead of the opening of its Grapevine store, Portillo’s is wheeling its Beef Bus back out.

Portillo’s, known for Italian beef sandwiches, opened its first North Texas restaurant in 2023 with hour-long lines and fanfare, and has since added six more stores.

But the brand dishing up Chicago-style street food isn’t done with the region.

Portillo’s plans to bring its 32-foot “Beef Bus” food truck back to Dallas-Fort Worth from Oct. 24 to Nov. 3 ahead of the opening of a Grapevine store.

And with it, it’s also introducing a special buy-one, get-one offer for sandwiches. The deal — which the company says is in honor of spooky season with only treats and no tricks — naturally is limited to one per customer. There is the potential to pick up swag for visitors to the truck, in addition to giveaways.

Along with Italian beef sandwiches, the Beef Bus’ offerings will include a limited menu with favorites such as Chicago-style hot dogs, cheese fries and chargrilled Maxwell Street Polish sausage. The Beef Bus will close once food runs out, which means guests should try to queue up as early as possible.

The Beef Bus is a tactic the company has used before to hype up would-be guests ahead of openings in the area. And Texans are receptive. Publicly traded Portillo’s has pointed out its successes in the Lone Star State in earning reports to its investors in the past.

The new Portillo’s in Grapevine is located at 460 W. State Highway 114, Grapevine. An official opening date has not been set, but the Beef Bus visit will help kick off hiring for the venue.
