Texas Gov. Greg Abbott cleared the way this week for bars to reopen at 25% capacity after being closed since March 21.
After allowing restaurants to begin operating their dining rooms at 25% capacity and permitting businesses like salons and retail stores to reopen with restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic, Abbott has lifted restrictions on bars, child care centers and bowling alleys, among other businesses.
In addition to the capacity requirement, bars also must block off the bar itself so customers don’t sit there or order there, with customers instead to be seated. Dancing and moving around are discouraged.
There is no occupancy limit for patios.
So, where can you get some libations made by someone other than you or your partner?
Here’s a list of McKinney watering holes planning to open under the regulations this weekend, some of which are classified as restaurants and are already open:
- Arcade 92 - Monday through Thursday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday 11 to 1 a.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 305 E. Virginia St.
- The Celt - Friday through Monday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. 100 N Tennessee St.
- Dempsey’s Place - Tuesday through Thursday 4 to 11 p.m., Friday 4 p.m to 2 a.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday 11 a.m.-10 p.m. 310 E Louisiana St.
- End Zone - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 4150 Eldorado Parkway, #800
- The Garage - Open for food and cocktails. 3 to 8 p.m. 100 E. Louisiana St.
- Guitars and Growlers - 12 to 9 p.m. 2741 Virginia Parkway Suite 500
- Landon Winery - Tasting room open 12 to 9 p.m. 101 N Kentucky St.
- The Pub McKinney - 11 a.m. to midnight. 204 W Virginia St.
- TUPPS Brewery - Taproom opening as beer-to-go sales continue. Check website for hours. 721 Anderson Street
- The Yard - The Yard is recommending guests check in on Yelp to reserve a spot. They can stay no more than 90 minutes. 107 S. Church St.
