National Tequila Day’s designated date — July 24 — falls on a Saturday this year, so plan accordingly. Here’s our roundup of a few of the places hosting events and serving special drinks in D-FW.
Café Herrera
The eatery at Restaurants on Lamar hosts a ticketed event that features a welcome cocktail, Casamigos tequila tasting, four taco stations, a live DJ and a photo booth. The featured tacos include pollo borracho (drunken chicken) with grilled tequila chicken, California chile rojo grilled shrimp with applewood smoked bacon, brocheta trompo with al pastor and pickled escabeche, and tacos de cabeza with shredded beef cheek.
July 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 665 S. Lamar St., Dallas. $45. Call 214-979-2525 to purchase tickets; tickets also available at the door.
Fearing’s Restaurant and Rattlesnake Bar
Chef Dean Fearing’s Dean’s Signature Margarita is offered at both Dallas establishments. The $22 cocktail is made with Patrón Añejo tequila (a blend from two different barrels exclusive to Fearing’s), damiana liqueur made with a flowering shrub native to Texas, agave nectar and fresh lime juice. Reservations are strongly recommended at Fearing’s.
Fearing’s Restaurant and Rattlesnake Bar are in the Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, 2121 McKinney Ave.
Hopdoddy
For National Tequila Day, try Hopdoddy’s Roadie to go — a half-gallon bag of the frozen house margarita that can be shared. If you’re looking for a tasty tequila drink for one, there are even more options from the bar (available for dine-in and to-go) like the strawberry margarita, a paloma or the Doble Fina margarita.
Three locations in Addison and Dallas.
Legacy Hall
The food hall celebrates the day with Lucha Libre wrestling, Latin music by Austin-based Money Chicha, and Patrón tequila cocktails. Havana NRG will close out the evening.
July 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 7800 Windrose Ave., Plano. $15-$20; $50 for tables of six. A limited amount of free open seating for the wrestling match is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Havana NRG tickets are $10 for general admission standing room, and reserved seating is $25 for two seats along the railing, $40-$50 for tables for four and $50-$75 for tables for six.
Seely’s Mill
The restaurant at the Beeman Hotel hosts a tequila tasting highlighting local selections from distilleries across Texas, including Insolito Tequila, Republic Tequila, Pepe Z Tequila, Socorro Tequila and Veneno Tequila. Guests can listen to music by Brandon Callies and enjoy cocktails like ranch water, palomas and reposado Old-Fashioneds, light bites from the restaurant and hot sauce samples from Dallas-based Speakeasy Hot Sauce.
July 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 6070 N. Central Expressway, Dallas. $20.
