Check out the ‘world’s biggest coconut’ in Bishop Arts this weekend

Measuring three stories tall, the inflatable coconut brings food trucks, games and drinks.

Drive across Texas, and you can set your navigation for countless roadside attractions worthy of a stop. There’s Cadillac Ranch, the graffitied Cadillac graveyard in Amarillo, a Stonehenge replica in Ingram, and our very own Eiffel Tower — wearing a cowboy hat, naturally — in Paris. But to lay your eyes on the world’s biggest coconut, you only have to go as far as Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff.

The world’s biggest coconut is three-stories tall, inflatable, and ready for your Instagram pics. It will be stationed at 705 N. Zang Blvd. and available to visit this weekend, July 22-24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The quirky attraction is courtesy of Vita Coco, as they invite Dallasites to celebrate summer (or, at best, survive the heat) with their new canned Coconut Juice product, which launched earlier this summer in two flavors: Original with Pulp, and Mango. The walk-up event is free to attend, but those who RSVP online will receive 10% off at vitacoco.com.

The area surrounding the massive coconut will be transformed into a beach-themed setting, so you can be hot on the beach instead of hot in the city. Once on site, attendees will find plenty of cold refreshments, merchandise giveaways and photo opportunities, and you can pass the time by playing games like cornhole, giant Jenga and giant Connect Four.

The weekend event will also feature food from the Street Bites and Crown Catering food trucks, so your slider and taco needs are handled. And local dessert shop Coconut Paradise will be there on Friday, doling out samples of coconut jasmine tea made with Vita Coco’s coconut water and coconut juice.

TV personality and ABC Food Tours co-founder Matt James will there on Friday for a meet-and-greet with attendees. And on Saturday from 2-4 p.m., local radio station KLNO (94.1 FM) and DJ Layla “La Nena” Guerrero will be broadcasting live.

If you’re brave enough to leave the house during this heat wave, you might as well get photographic evidence of the world’s biggest coconut. And, more importantly, hydrate in its shadow.
